The Power of Falling is a one woman comedic plunge into the art of messing up. Failure happens to everyone, yet somehow it always feels personal. This autobiographical show by Molly Dooner (Writer and Performer) follows a young woman who keeps tripping over life's hurdles and decides to turn every fall into material. Feminist without being cautionary, contemporary without lacking depth and realism.
Directing a new writing piece at its infancy while evolving its dramaturgy on the spot, was a unique opportunity. I was afforded the significant freedom of drawing upon physical comedy, storytelling, and clown work in a play that was brimming with emotional precision. Together with Molly, we invited audiences to recognise themselves in the mess, laugh at the absurdity, and embrace the power that comes from getting back up.
